Energizing or sleepy?

Mostly calming. Leafly rates Lava Cake mostly calming with sleepy among its top three effects, and SeedFinder describes a sedating high.1,4 Several sources still describe a lift: AllBud lists uplifting and creative and a light lift at the onset, and Weedmaps says some people get a creative lift while others get sleepy.2,3 The parents pull in different directions: Leafly rates Thin Mint mostly energizing and Grape Pie mostly calming (see genetics).8,9

Why two batches can feel different

Potency alone varies widely: one in ten lab-tested batches came in under 16.39% THC and one in ten above 24.92%.10 Weedmaps says the profile can lean toward cocoa, sweet dough or ripe berries depending on the selection, and that some batches carry a brighter citrus edge; a different cross, 707 Seed Bank’s Thin Mint Cookies × 707 Chemdawg, is also sold as Lava Cake.3,11
